Tower Hamlets domestic violence ‘One Stop Shop’

Miles and Partners LLP are pleased to be taking part in the launch of a new initiative to combat domestic violence – Tower Hamlets Domestic Violence One Stop Shop.

From Monday 28th November residents of Tower Hamlets affected by domestic violence will be able to access the support and help of local lawyers and support agencies at the Jagonari Centre, 183-185 Whitechapel Road, E1. Tower Hamlets police have worked in partnership with the Council to devise the Tower Hamlets Domestic Violence One Stop Shop, which will be open every Monday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Claire Crawley, “At the present time in Tower Hamlets, victims and vulnerable adults are referred to many different organisations to obtain the support they need to remove themselves from a violent home. The Domestic Violence One Stop Shop will provide the support and advice that victims need at one venue on one day and on a weekly basis. It will give the community access to different agencies without the need to attend a police station. Having an officer from the Community Safety Unit present will give the visitor the option of reporting crimes to the police and if they do not want police intervention, they are able to get advice from other agencies. It will offer a service and support to groups of our community that are harder to reach.

Miles & Partners LLP welcomes this opportunity to make services for Domestic Violence more accessible to those who need them and we are very pleased to be participating in this very important initiative.” says Dee Aktar of Miles & Partners Family Team. A lawyer from Miles & Partners LLP and two other firms of local solicitors will be available to give advice to clients at the One Stop Shop.
