Rajea Sultana wins 2022 Housing Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award
Miles & Partners is delighted that housing law partner Rajea Sultana has been recognised as a legal aid hero, winning the 2022 Housing Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) award.
The coveted award was presented by Helena Kennedy QC at the awards ceremony on 12 July 2022 which also marked the 20th anniversary of the LALYs.
Rajea was highly praised by LALY judges as a ‘superb community and grassroots housing lawyer, uninterested in the spotlight.’
Her work is focused on tirelessly helping vulnerable people secure the right to be accommodated and stay in their own accommodation. She represents a variety of clients, including tenants, homeowners and homeless people in disputes over tenancies, housing applications and local authority housing allocation decisions.
Rajea also volunteers at the Bromley-by-Bow Centre in Tower Hamlets, providing pro bono housing law advice at their free drop-in sessions for local residents.
‘I am so pleased that all the hard work Rajea has done for her vulnerable clients has been given the recognition it deserves,’ says managing partner, Kate Hammond. ‘We already knew she was an award-worthy lawyer, but we are delighted that has been recognised outside the Miles & Partners family too.’
