Expertise and experience

Phil’s background is in family law and, before joining Miles & Partners, he was engaged in setting up outreach clinics in partnership with front-line agencies such as Southwark Victim Support.

He has been involved in legal practice administration since the late 1980s and was one of the first contract liaison managers when franchising was introduced by the Legal Services Commission.

Phil was Vice Chairman of the Legal Aid Practitioners Group from 2015 to 2019. LAPG is a campaigning membership body representing legal aid practitioners committed to the principle that access to justice is a fundamental right and as such campaigns for a fair, comprehensive and accessible legal aid scheme. Phil currently sits on the LAPG Advisory Committee.

Phil joined Miles & Partners as Practice Manager in 2004 and has been a partner since 2010.  He is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s operations, including:

  • Client satisfaction;
  • Quality control including Lexcel accreditation;
  • Compliance;
  • Recruitment and human resources; and
  • IT.

In 2017 Phil Co presented a Law Society webinar Client Care, Communication and Complaints (Law Management) with Vicky Ling for practitioners seeking to improve their client care.
