Expertise and experience

Eida is a specialist mental capacity law solicitor. Having completed her training contract and worked as a Legal Assistant at Miles & Partners, Eida has had experience of both mental health and mental capacity law predominantly working on cases to represent clients through their litigation friend, the Official Solicitor.

Eida is regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor and Relevant Person’s Paid Representatives in the following types of cases:

  • s21A challenges concerning residence and care; and
  • complex welfare proceedings under s16 of the Mental Capacity Act concerning but not limited to residence, care, contact and transition from children to adult services.

Before joining Miles & Partners, Eida worked for many years as a support worker for children and young adults with complex needs, mental health conditions and learning disabilities and as a specialist teaching assistant for autistic children, gaining significant experience working with children with special educational needs and their families. As a result, Eida understands the importance of EHCP’s and has a keen interest in cases concerning young people and education within the Court of Protection.

As a result of her previous experience, Eida is trained in Makaton Sign Language and has a good understanding of PECS and other communication systems. Eida is passionate about using a total communication approach with her clients and ensuring client’s voices are heard in the Court of Protection.

Eida has a unique approach to the cases in the Court of Protection bringing her many years of experience on the ground working directly with a diverse range of young people to ensure outcomes that are in P’s best interests.

I believe this ethos applies to all lawyers working in the Court of Protection as our communication with vulnerable clients should always be flexible and adapted to suit their individual needs to ensure their voices are heard.
