Expertise and experience

Amy is one of our trainee solicitors, and will be qualifying under the new route to qualification, namely the Solicitor’s Qualifying Exams (SQE). She will be gaining experience in family law, mental health and mental capacity during her training contract. Amy assists the other solicitors advising and representing clients at court in certain matters.

Amy specialises in family law, notably in care proceedings, but also in other public and private law matters, and has assisted on cases representing Guardians, as well as worked on cases representing parents.

Prior to joining Miles & Partners, Amy worked in the education sector, for an organisation providing language training through culturally immersive education programs around the world.

She has also throughout her legal education contributed on a voluntary basis to the online blog LAWYA by writing articles and answering day-to-day legal questions in an easy and accessible fashion.

In celebration of Pride 2022 Amy wrote an article highlighting some of the key LGBTQ+ figures which have prompted major changes in laws relating to rights and freedoms for the LGBTQ+ community. She has also written a blog series on spotting the signs of coercive and controlling behaviour, inspired by questions raised over contestant behaviour on Love Island by the charity Women’s Aid.

Most recently, Amy wrote an article exploring the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on victims of domestic violence.
