Michael Dooley appointed Accredited Legal Representative

Mental capacity lawyer Michael Dooley is now an Accredited Legal Representative on the Law Society’s Court of Protection (Health and Welfare) panel.

An Accredited Legal Representative is a solicitor who has been authorised by the Law Society to represent ‘P’ in proceedings at the Court of Protection and ensure that their needs are recognised in proceedings.

The Accreditation is also a recognised quality standard for practitioners who offer advice on health and welfare matters under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. It helps clients to confidently choose a practitioner with mental capacity expertise and experience of working closely with vulnerable individuals and their families, and has been approved by the Court of Protection.

Rachel Turner, Joint Head of Mental Health & Capacity team comments:

“We’re thrilled that Mike’s outstanding experience has been recognised and accredited by the Law Society’s Court of Protection (Health and Welfare) panel. This recognition is a testament to his expertise, commitment to vulnerable individuals, and the compassionate, client-focused approach he brings to every case. Congratulations Mike!”

Michael, who joined Miles & Partners in 2024, specialises in the Mental Capacity Act in relation to deprivation of liberty and welfare matters and the responsibilities of local authorities under Part 1 Care Act 2014.

He has expertise in cases involving:

  • Mental capacity and best interests decision-making in community care and housing
  • Deprivations of liberty in care homes, supported living and healthcare settings
