Kate Hammond shortlisted as a 2020 Legal Aid ‘Family Lawyer of the Year’ finalist
The team at Miles & Partners Solicitors was thrilled to hear that our Managing Partner Kate Hammond has been shortlisted in the 2020 Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) Awards run by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group.
‘Kate has been shortlisted for the Family Law category and, although we might be biased, we are all very proud as we know how hard she works for her clients and we see the consistently excellent feedback,’ said founding partner and joint head of the family team Amanda Dench.
A recognised specialist in childcare law, Kate represents children and advises parents and guardians in local authority care proceedings, as well as cases involving adoption, disputes arising from relationship breakdown, violence in the family home, female genital mutilation, and forced marriage.
Kate was delighted to be shortlisted and wished the other finalists well: ‘I would also like to congratulate all the other finalists – the judges will have their work cut out for them this year.’
‘It will be interesting to see how the virtual awards ceremony works on 7 July 2020, and one advantage is that my family will be able to watch along with me.’
Chris Minnoch, CEO of the Legal Aid Practitioners Group says: ‘Social distancing rules mean we can’t gather in person this year, but an online event gives us the chance to open the festivities more widely. The LALY20 ceremony may be virtual, but the celebrations and the LALY spirit will be as real and palpable as ever.’
