Congratulations to newly appointed Councillor Erica Gbajumo on her Brent election victory!

Our heartiest congratulations to Erica Gbajumo, a legal assistant in the Miles & Partners Solicitors family law department, for winning a seat in the recent London Borough of Brent local council election.

On 3 May 2018, Erica was voted in by the residents of the London Borough of Brent alongside two other candidates ; Dr Kieron Gill and Tony Ethapemi, as their new Labour councillors for the Brondesbury Park ward, spanning a significant area of North West London, including parts of Queens Park, Willesden Green and Kilburn.

Erica assists a Senior Lawyer with the management of their family law cases, specifically public law proceedings involving children, namely care, adoption, secure accommodation and emergency protection order application proceedings.

Erica decided to stand as a local councillor because she held a desire to make a difference to the community and give something back. She looks forward to making a real difference to the lives of local people and putting the residents first. Her background in law, has equipped her with the perfect mix of skills she will need to stand up for people’s rights and prepare her for the world of politics.

As part of her new role Erica will be holding advice surgeries in the ward, taking on cases and referring them to the relevant council departments and representing the views and plights of the residents at council meetings. She will also have to attend various civic ceremonies, such as the upcoming Mayor Making Ceremony.
