Andrew Bowmer completes IRONMAN Triathlon ahead of LALYs

Hot off the heels of being shortlisted for the 2022 Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) award for social welfare law, Andrew Bowmer completed the challenging IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz Triathlon in Spain on 10 July 2022.

An admirable feat of endurance

IRONMAN Triathlons are widely considered to be one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world. The course started with a 2.4-mile swim in the lake Ullíbarri-Gamboa, the biggest water reservoir in the Basque Country. Andrew then biked 112 miles around the scenic towns of the Álava region, before finishing with a 26.22-mile run through the city centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Lawyer by day, LALY finalist by night

Just hours after arriving back from the Spanish IRONMAN race, Andrew headed straight to the LALY awards ceremony to celebrate the evening with the team.
