Expertise and experience

Iona is a trainee solicitor and will gain experience in the Court of Protection and Housing/Public Law teams during her training contract.

Prior to starting her training contract, Iona worked as a legal assistant in the Court of Protection team, predominantly working on welfare cases brought under s16 and s21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. She has experience assisting in cases where the fee earner is acting for a person who lacks or is alleged to lack capacity. Additionally, she has considerable experience assisting relative clients. Iona has further assisted on property and affairs deputyship applications.

Prior to joining Miles and Partners, Iona volunteered at Greater Manchester Law Centre and was a member of the local Amnesty International Group. She has also volunteered with organisations such as Oxfam International and has written articles for a human rights magazine.
