Three helpful resources for parents going through divorce or separation
We understand that separation and divorce can be an incredibly hard time for families and particularly for children. With Resolution’s Good Divorce Week 2021 taking place from 29 November to 3 December, the family law team at Miles & Partners in London share three excellent resources for parents to help them put their child’s interests first throughout their divorce or separation.
The Parenting Through Separation Guide
This free digital guide from the family justice organisation Resolution contains lots of useful advice on how to parent well through a separation or divorce and how to support the mental and emotional needs of children involved.

A-Z Guide for parents on Divorce and Separation
The mental health charity Young Minds UK has an excellent online guide for parents which has lots of information on how a relationship break-up can affect children. It highlights how children of different age groups may react or cope with their parents divorcing or separating, and it contains advice on how both parents can support their child emotionally.
When Parents Separate by Dawn Hewitt
This is a great picture book called When Parents Separate which helps children navigate their questions and feelings during such an uncertain time. Written by Dawn Hewitt, the CEO of CHUMS, a mental health and emotional wellbeing service, the book offers practical help, tips and advice, as well as exploring everyday situations.
