Simon has specialised in the full range of housing and landlord and tenant work since qualifying in 2004. This includes disrepair and nuisance claims, possession proceedings, homelessness, actions for re-housing, injunction applications under the Housing Act 1996, deposit penalty claims and applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act.

Simon provides both advice and legal assistance and, as an advocate, can represent clients in all higher courts, allowing him to provide a seamless service to clients from the beginning of a case to its conclusion, irrespective of the nature of the work involved.

Simon has also developed a particular specialism in landlord liability for nuisance, in the wake of the High Court case of Brumby v Octavia Hill Housing Trust. He welcomes informal approaches on this or any other legal issue within his expertise, from within London or outside.

Simon also holds an LLM in public law from the University of London, with an emphasis on the role and functioning of international courts and tribunals.

Before specialising in housing law at Miles and Partners, Simon was employed as a welfare benefits and debt caseworker at an East London firm and as a generalist legal adviser at a Citizens Advice Bureau in Manchester.

Simon is the present chair of the Housing Law Practitioners’ Association and also featured in the Law Society Gazette’s May 2016 edition of ‘My Legal Life’.
